Description

The Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) builds on the UK’s world-class research base and delivers the science that business needs to transform existing industries and create new ones. It accelerates commercial exploitation of the most exciting technologies the UK has to offer the world to ensure that scientific investment truly delivers economic impact, jobs and growth right across the country.

Selection of challenge areas for the second wave of ISCF initiatives is under way and we are preparing a space component as part of this competitive process. To date the process has been internal to Innovate UK and the research councils, and we are now in a position to invite key stakeholders to an engagement workshop on the 5 September in Glasgow to review and validate the proposed ISCF space component to ISCF, which centres around exploiting data from space.

To highlight: funding is not guaranteed for the programme. This engagement forms a vital part of the process to finalise a proposal on which funding decisions will be made in early autumn, alongside others dealing with challenges across the economy.

We are seeking to engage with stakeholders to;

  • Validate the scope of the challenge we are proposing
  • Understand the market opportunity
  • Ensure the programme time scales are reasonable
  • Gather feedback on the scale of investment that might be needed
  • To understand industry appetite to participate and co-fund
